Couldn’t agree more. One solution I’ve proposed to a client recently is to go for regionals by including examples of work he’s done in a particular city – he is truly national, has carried out his line of work for e.g. the MOD, the BBC, etc, so he could easily come up with e.g. ‘examples of keyphrase in Nottingham’, where ‘keyphrase in Nottingham’ is built in naturally.

Another approach is for a different client whose stock differs from city to city, so I’ve got him to list the different products available in each one – but this is a bit closer to the wind than the first client I mentioned.

I prefer the former approach to the latter, but I think both ways are valid.

Yeh those testimonials are a greay way of increasing content on the page that is not only useful for SEO but great for marketing in general!

Couldn’t agree more! No wonder small businesses are overwhelmed. We’ve made having a successful on-line presence seem impossible to them.

One thing I’ve used successfully for local search is to have your customers submit testimonials and list the city. It’s natural, it’s helpful and it is way more useful than a lot of extra pages!
