Hat tip to Bruce Clay!

Here’s an idea. Instead of writing useful content for my site, why don’t I randomly browse SEO forums and make up some stuff.  Doesn’t need to be wildly exciting, groundbraking or accurate, but hey, search engines like content right?  So why not hire some random body to churn out content - perhaps enough to justify a “news” section or even an RSS feed?

Hell, if I wanted, I could even just take facts and shuffle as I see fit.  For example, if someone said:

The problem with a “career” in SEO is that agencies aren’t very stable - they can’t recruit experienced SEOs without paying big bucks and most are happy to just recruit graduates and train them up on a lower wage.

And I changed it to:

the reason SEO isn’t stable is because companies recruit recent college grads so they can train them and pay them lower wages.

That would be fine right?

No need to bother with stuff, like, oh I don’t know, the underlying issue that any talented SEO can make infinitely more than an agency could possible pay them.  Yes, it’s fine to generalise the statement, remove it from it’s context and add a few more random thoughts in for good measure!

Now, just to clarify my statement to Lisa over at Bruce Clay, no I don’t think the SEO industry is unstable.  Just that some business models are seriously flawed. It’s that simple.  Just as simple, for example, as SEO agencies churning out content guised as “news” in a half hearted attempt to appear to be “authoritative”.  It’s really easy - all the agencies are doing it.  For what it’s worth. :)

Slow news day was it?  Need to write about something. ;) Maybe SEO is too simple!
