Big Brother 8 - whatcha think?

I confess, I was a bit of a Big Brother junkie back when it first came out but kind of lost interest after that - kinda felt they tried too hard to get assholes into the house just for a little drama (which IMO is no more than badly thought out link bait, albeit on a national scale and pretty successful).
But this year I think they’ve done quite well to turn things around from the falling interest they had last year…
…mainly because it went a little bit gay n girlie, which IMO turned off quite a large percentage of the male population. OK, not particularly because it was gay and girlie in itself - it was just they ended up falling into a super gay and super girlie kind of place. There’s only so much patience the average guy has for cat fights and hissy fits! And frankly, Russell Brand on Big Brother’s Big Mouth really annoyed a lot of people! Being loud and annoying just to try and get a laugh really isn’t as funny as he thinks it is! Maybe that’s just me though?
This year, I think they picked up a good balance to switch things around.
For those who didn’t watch the first night last night - they sent 12 girls into the house (quite a few of which, if you don’t mind me saying, were pretty damn hot!). C’mon - two 18yr blonde, hot twins going in first! :) That was a brilliant move!
On top of that, the annoying Mr Brand has been replaced on Big Brother’s Big Mouth, with Radio 1 DJ, Chirs Moyles - who is pretty much as close an example of a “bloke” as you’ll find!
Personal opinions of what aspects of the show you love and hate aside, I think this was an awesome marketing re-focus by Big Brother - they took all the positives from the previous series and managed to keep them - the show still is really appealing to the female population - at least the girls I’ve spoken to it about are keen to see what’s going on in there (and are waiting for the cat fights!). But, it has also brought back the blokes to the audience (c’mon guys - you know there’s only one reason you’re watching!) and rounds thing off with Chris Moyles who i think is prehaps more for the blokes watching, but still sufficiently funny, talented, etc to appeal to everyone.
No doubt as the show progresses and they start throwing some guys in there, things will round off to an area that’s aimed at everyone, but I thought it was worth writing a post about their launch strategy (which I think was pretty good).
It’s an excellent example of a product that has started to show it’s age (previous years we saw Big Brother doing loads of stupid crap just to be controversial and it didn’t really work), that then went to turn around it’s image with a solid launch campaign and will probably go on to see similar success as it did in the early years.
So….marketing crap aside - what do you think of the new series anyway?
Everyone seems to hate the twins, but hey - they’re hot 18 year olds - they ain’t exactly going to be sparkling conversationalists are they? You’ve also got the typical “extreme weirdo” folks in there to mix things up - oddly the public seems to like them (democracy at it’s finest IMO!). And the “I’m here to be famous” folks, which doesn’t really sit well with me tbh, but they seem nice enough.
My main beef with Big Brother - those idiots that turn up and boo people. Bad enough at the end of the series, but what kind of loser actually turns up to the opening night and boos someone they haven’t even seen yet! Methinks many singles chat rooms saw a drop in traffic on that night!
I reckon we should have a competition to get a pod cast on Big Brother’s Big Mouth - see who can get the highest $$ keyword mentioned live on air or a random stupid phrase or something - the whole series is just gagging to be exploited!
