One of the projects I’ve been working on has just launched – Zero Strategy, a news site for the UK marketing folks.  It’s something I had planned for ages but the development took a little longer than expected.  Subscribe to the news feed here.

The idea behind the site is that I’ve felt for a while that many companies don’t have a great deal of communication between their marketing efforts (due to departmental divides or different suppliers handling the work).  I.e. “zero strategy” connecting your efforts.

An example could be your PR agency producing work that doesn’t really benefit your SEO efforts as well as it could – perhaps not taking advantage of social media, or even something simple like not linking to your new content or product launches.  So I thought a place to chat about these issues was worth a shot.

The site is new (although news content has been produced for it for a while now – it was in basic blog form for a while) – so the discussion forums are pretty quiet and the directory doesn’t have many listings (although I am spending some time populating it just now – feel free to submit your own site!).

I have the news content produced by an agency so there’s quite a few articles being published each month and I’m planning on supplementing this with my own articles (more like guides than news though).

I’d appreciate any feedback you have on it and if anyone really wants to register on the forums to help kick things off that would be cool!

The blog roll has gone, but I’ll put together something to list the blogs that were up there.

There are still a few small bugs with the theme which will be ironed out over the course of the day.  Be patient!

The new theme I was having designed is about finished anyway and I was due to do a fresh install (didn’t expect to have to go through every page to check for problem though!).  The joys of running a site I guess.

I’m looking forward to 2008 – I’ve been tinkering with loads of new projects over the past few months (hence the lack of blogging!) and early next year should see them grow some more. 2007 has been a good year and hopefully 2008 will be the same!

• Directories (preferably niche, but I’ll consider any decent directory)
• Particularly:  Jobs / employment, Business, Travel (particularly Europe), Gaming (console / mmo / pc), Technology (no SEO / webmaster) related sites
• Will have a look at most things.

No MFA or turnkey type sites.   No dead forums, crap blogs, etc.  The amount of time and effort you have put into your site so far is proportional to the time and effort of the response I give you.

I’ll consider most stuff – not worried about existing revenue levels, but the traffic should be there in some form or another and the domain should have a good standing in search engines.  I also have a big preference for good looking sites – anything with a particularly unique design / theme / skin.

• Traffic figures / revenue figures
• Any relevant data (is your community reliant on a few members / are you the only poster on the blog you are selling / will any of the backlinks be lost after the sale / any advertiser relationships that need to be honoured) – I don’t need to be impressed – just want the truth.
• How much you want for the site.
